father,husband,son.. gone too soon

by s lynn

December 21st 1989, I was only seven years old when I woke to my mother crying on the phone early that morning. My father, Ken, had been on his way home from work when he was hit by a drunk driver. That day I can remember like it was yesterday. My sister and I were rushed to my aunts house not knowing what was going on, only to all of sudden have family member after family member show up crying, telling us that our daddy was with the angles now. That day, one of the greatest, kindest, loving men was taken from us at the young age of 28. The love in his heart was so full, that to this day we can all still feel it. I look at my son who is going to take after his grandfather in so many ways but he will never be able to meet his grandpa because being careless took that away. If your gonna drink...please just don't drive, another family's heart ache is not worth it.
