lose is lose ~ driver or not
by: Suzanne In Connecticut

Hi Ashley,

I read your story and just wanted to say, loss is loss....Weather your friend was the driver or the victim,he happened to be both, he made a mistake and unfortunately he paid with his life....I don't think people think you shouldn't grieve or your not suppose to because HE was the driver...No matter how you look at it, it was an accident that involved partying and the fault is always the booze or drugs that make people do things they normally wouldn't do...So I hope you understand, the thing we should be mad at, is the fact the booze made your friend do something he normally wouldn't do, so I guess the lesson is "if there is a lesson to be learned here" (which there is) would be, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE....be in a safe place where you can stay over night if your going to party....DON'T get in a car with anyone that has been drinking or if you yourself have been drinking....My husband was killed by a drunk driver 3 years ago, I still cry every day, and the pain sometimes is unbearable....so I understand loss..I'm sure your young and have a full life ahead of you, just remember your friend, and honor him by not getting into a car with someone that's been drinking or if you've been drinking yourself, I can't say it enough....I can't tell you this gets any easier, you just have to take each day, one day at a time...Take care of yourself.
