killed by a drunk driver

A MUM who died in a hit-and-run accident in Welling has been named as Claire Lane, aged 31.

Ms Lane, who had a two-year-old son, was believed to be on her way to a night out with friends when she was hit by a silver convertible Mercedes, just yards from her home in Elmfield Court, Wickham Street, Welling.

The accident happened at about 5.30pm on Sunday (May 3) and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed two men got out of the car after the collision and fled.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place later today at the Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough.

Police Sergeant Simon Seeley, from the Catford collision investigation unit, which is investigating the accident, said: "We really need to hear from anyone who saw what happened on this stretch of road at teatime on Sunday."

He added: "This is a very sad incident where a young mum died just minutes from her home.

"The collision happened near a pub and we know people were outside at that time and may well have seen what happened.

"I would urge them, or anyone else in the area who saw the collision or the men fleeing the scene, to contact us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information should call 020 8285 1574 or crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Two men aged 25 and 45 have been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. LETS HOPE THEY GET LIFE THERE COWARDS AND EVIL SCUM! GOD BLESS Claire Lane AND HER FAMILY THAT SHE LEAVES BEHIND.
