MADD GFY NEW
by: Anonymous

MADD, I'm sorry for your losses but I didn't kill anyone. A victim-less crime in my case(unless you include me as the victim). I have a family, a mortgage and a life the same as you. The punishment certainly does not fit my crime. There should be different punishment for people who cause damage or personal injury than people who get pulled over a mile from their houses barely over the legal limit. all sorts of folks make mistakes and bad decisions, but what does it accomplish to take their livelihood away? so you take a decent tax paying, law abiding person, who had a momentary lapse in judgement and try to destroy their lives? And don't claim to be blameless because MADD has government funding and every time a new dui law is passed you take credit for it. You lobby and picket every chance you get. Anyone who has been though the classes has seen the carnage these lapses can cause, over and over, but I didn't do it so please don't treat me as if I have. Trust me the punishment is plenty So please stop lobbying to make it harder. You are ruining America and making it harder for your neighbors. This whole dui system is designed for the poor anyway. Rich white people do not get dui's, it's keeping the poor people down. There are certainly better ways of dealing with drinking and driving other than this. How about education? I read somewhere that they have the ability to put a minimally invasive IID in every car, that if it registers any alcohol content in the car you would then have to take a breath test to start the car. Why not fight for that. But we all know the big business that is dui will certainly keep this from happening. Don't blame us blame your fascist government. They are as guilty as the drunkenest driver on the road. Sometimes people don't realize how intoxicated they are Maybe a device like this would save lives. Stop taking out your pain on me, I'm a person too. End rant. Seriously, Go fuck yourselves.

My DUI destroyed my life (DMV sucks, No I didn't hurt anyone.) NEW
by: Anonymous

I got my DUI 10 years ago, haven't had as much as an infraction since. I went through the court system, worked my ass off, paid my debt to society for the crime I committed, and I still can't drive because DMV has different rules than the court system. I'm paying for mistakes I made as a damn teenager and I'm 30. It's kinda ruined my life. Justify THAT! I could have robbed a convenience store and not been half as persecuted. Yeah, I take full responsibility for my actions, I screwed up when I was a dumb kid. But I didn't hurt anyone and these draconian laws basically stole a decade of my life. I've been done with the courts for like 9 years, but DMV still won't let me drive until I take a second offender class, which I am in order to get a promotion at work. DMV doesn't recognize "wet and reckless" I was half the legal limit and 20 so I got hit with the zero tolerance thing, then I got an actual DUI a month later. keep in mind, I WAS 20! A dumb kid! I'm now desperately trying to get my life back and work my ass off! I started taking the 2nd offender classes because I need to be able to do bank runs for my job because I was just promoted! Those classes are a living hell for someone like me. I'm now a responsible tax paying citizen who just wants to get on with his life, yet I still have to go through this constant reminder of the one major mistake I've ever made a DECADE after the fact. Due to DMV, MADD, and the emotionally charged logically faulty bullshit the system is imposing on me. My DUI teacher guys are all A.A. zealots that believe if you drink, you're automatically bad. It's like paying for A.A.! Except with most people they have to be there, because if they don't it's jail! I'm there just to be able to drive for my job, no court case, no problems in a decade, but still have to pay the money and sit around with a bunch of cultists and other poor saps who actually have to be there and kiss ass and pretend it actually does them any good. It's a scam. It's a cash grab. I spent one two hour class where it was two guys talking about Oil Wells.... Not even kidding. Half of the content of these classes has nothing to do with DUI's or the dangers of alcohol. Another class we spent over half an hour talking about our favorite T.V. shows! I'm paying 115 dollars a month to listen to people talk about freaking television and celebrity gossip! Remember, my crime was ten years ago. I haven't even had a J-walking citation since! Nothing! These classes are standing in the way of me and my life goals. They are WAAAAYYYY more harmful than good and absolutely pointless non sense. At least that's been my experience. I honestly feel oppressed. I've been considering moving to a different state where you can drive after a certain amount of time has passed since your DUI. Ten years of my life, gone. Just, gone! Even after I did everything the court asked me to do. DMV has their own set of rules and that's incredibly screwed.

Sorry for your lose but not everyone is at fault!
by: Anonymous

Having committed a dui and knowing I was in the wrong still agree with many that madd only Makes things worse. Blaming everyone that has a dui for their lose. Fighting for stronger punishments as if they weren't difficult enough. I agree I made a mistake and deserve punishment but it's like I'm paying for it for the rest of my life. 10 years is a long time. Yet other more severe crimes have a much less punishment. The government doesn't care about stopping duis the way they see it is more revenue.

NTSB
by: Anonymous

Everyone needs to read the NTSB "Reaching zero". The NTSB is just an enforcement rubber stamp for MADD, FAA, AMA and others. If anyone reads please post your thoughts, it would be interesting to hear opinions.

the maddness doesnt stop
by: Anonymous

This world is full of innocent people that do not have to suffer from other peoples mistakes. However with that said we are human which means we will make mistakes. I am not defending drinking and driving but defending human rights to be human. And as humans we have rights to do what makes us happy. which believe it or not i love to drink. but know this i work hard for the things i own and dont intend on losing them. what does that mean. it means i paid for my car so if i want to drink and take my car home i will. Doesnt mean am putting people at risk cause i would never want to put my life or my car at risk. the bottom line is simple know your limits when it comes to alcohol. Live and let others live. P.s. Madd i know u mean well but more and more familys are now suffering rather you are helping.

wake up

'Whose house is of glass, must not throw stones at another.'

I've lost someone not to drunk driving but to drugs. I do not seek to make sense of this by ruining other people's lives through draconian drug laws and back patting self righteousness, as you folks defending MADD seem to. Life is nuance, not black and white. For the "be gone" douchebag, please adjust your morality meter to something more complex than a first grader watching Superman.

you don't need to do the MADD classes
by: Sarah

To those being coerced into believing they must do the form and classes evil conglomerate MADD Is trying to trick you into doing...you don't. If your driving school requires the extra class in order to obtain a pass then find another. The words on the document are misleading of " you must" and "ordered" are not true. You MUST do what your court judge ordered. Nothing else.check the facts. You don't need to do it. Don't worry there are over 1.8 million Californians who have a new dui in the past ten years make it almost 20% of the states population. By putting those forms and scare tactics in MADD cannot only make tone of money but get you to volunteer your information. DON'T DO IT AND BEST OF LUCK! YOU'RE NOT ALONE.

Mandatory MADD
by: Anonymous

I just learned today that it has become mandatory that all first time offenders must pay for an additional class sponsored by MADD to listen to victims of DUIs. Failure to enroll could cost you fines and even a warrant for your arrest! This is ridiculous! At which point is enough enough? One must already pay fines to the county, carry an SR 22 for 3 years, court probation, pay for driving school, do community service and of course have insurance rise. And even if you killed or injured someone because of a DUI one faces prison plus living with this crime.

To all those MADD people I say get bent! Get a life! All they are doing now is profiteering off the deaths of people and having read articles of all the grants and special government interest in their agenda for prohibition, I would say MADD is nothing more than another Big Brother program set to take more rights away from people.

To those MADD people who need a purpose in their life go fight for rights of people who are receiving a bad education for being poor, fight for the high unemployment, fight to to incarcerate politicians who are fucking people over on a daily basis, fight to keep people from being homeless, fight against the police state this country is becoming, in other words do something useful with your lives instead of exploiting your dead loved ones.

The people who killed your loved ones I'm sure have already been prosecuted and punished, why should first time offenders or any other offenders have to pay for your mandatory class especially if their was no injury or death caused?! You all have too much time on your hands and are nothing more than a greedy corporation in bed with the government, insurance agencies and false NHTSA reports in order to control the populace.

FUCK YOU MADD!!!!

hypocrisy
by: Anonymous

Contrary to popular belief, not all innocent people are killed only at the hands of drunk drivers.

Unfortunately, people blame anyone who has a sip of alcohol before driving, no matter how conservatively or legally, for the death of their loved one or friend. By labeling virtually all people who drink into the category of "Drunk Driver" people are blaming others for things that they did not do.

This is a lovely system for the police, courts, and politicians.

When innocent people die on the roadways due to negligence from a speeder, texter, or drowsy driver, these hypocrites call it an "accident."

When innocent people die on the roadways due to the same negligence from a person, if they have had a sip or more of alcohol... It is a monstrous "Drunk Driver."

Fear mongering. Brainwashing. Propaganda. Testimonials. These are the weapons of MADD and the NHTSA.

This was your fault not MADDs
by: Anonymous

My boyfriend died from drinking and driving. Iv also seen alot of familys have to deal with the fact that they have lost loved ones, whether someone else was drinking and driving, or they themselves werew drinking and killed themselves. Defending drinking and driving is rediculous. If you wernt drinking then your life wouldnt be so ruined. Hopefully you will realise this and get your life together before its either to late for a victum you might take, or before you kill yourself as a result. Im sorry this happened to you, but it was preventable. Call a taxi, or a friend. No reason to try to defend yourself and hurt others. I think you have other underlying problems that you might need a therapist for, in the meantime maybe have some respect for ppl that have lost loved ones, and have more love for yourself. This was your fault entirely, not MADD

denial is a convenient thing
by: Anonymous

I don't even know where to begin...If your life sucks it is, for the most part, a direct result of your choices. When people who CHOOSE to drink and drive, impact others who's only crime was to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, the outcome can only be attributed to the selfish uncaring self important attitudes of those who believe that what they do is less offensive to society than what others do. As an EMT I have had to scrape up body parts of to many people who were in alcohol related crashes. Crashes that were caused by the very attitude that you seem to cherish. I work for the "Gestapo" and know that you generally don't lose funding for school for "just" a dui, I am willing to bet you didn't pay your fines or in some other way thumbed your nose at those who would destroy your life. This sight is for those who were in some way negatively effected by the mixture of alcohol and driving (both the families of the offenders and the victims). We all feel pain, anger and confusion over this completely avoidable tragedy and quite frankly your "poor me, my life is everyones fault but my own" attitude is completely out of place so I suggest that you suck your thumb in some other corner and continue your sad little life blaming everyone else for what you have become. I am sure that your pain will come when you are forced to see your life and yourself for what it truely is...YOUR FAULT. Now begone as the rest of us need to try to heal.
