WE CHALLENGE YOU TO BE A VOICE FOR My Ashleah!
Dad'S Statement:
Ashleah Richards was a unique 21 year old human being that loved people no matter what they looked like or who they were. Ashleah paid the ultimate sacrifice on October 11, 2009 when a drunk driver hit the vehicle she was driving killing Ashleah on impact. Ashleah turn the car to the right to prevent hitting the car head on preventing the other four girls in the vehicle taking a head on collision taking the blunt hit herself and saving all four girls. Ashleah was the only serious injury out of the six people involved and the only person not drinking. Ashleah lived, laughed and most of all LOVED her short life! She was a true hero to many.
The accident accured at 3:50 am 15.8 miles from my front door, her mother Lorraine and I were on the scene by 4:30 am. I pulled up and couldnt believe my eyes; the car she was in literally looked like a pile of metal. My baby was laying there in the drivers seat her head laying on the indescribable drivers door cold but beautiful as an angel. No one stopped me from going to her, I took her face in my hands kissed her lips hugged her and held her for more than 15 minutes. Her mother crawled in the passengers side and began to pray for her as I held her. I felt My Ashleah say her final good bye to me and ascended into our Heaven our home Ashleahs home at 4:50am.
Our hope and prayers are that people will see that drinking and driving lead strait to death. Every 39 minutes someone is killed by a drunk driver, thats right every 39 minutes seven days a week 365 days a year someone dies from this sickness. We need to get off our couches and bar stools and be a voice for my Ashleah. I will also go so far to say if you social drink you are a contributor to my baby death. You tell me why you need this drug this sickness to have fun, to make money what is it one or both? Our voice, Ashleah voice is calling out to the four comers of this earth that this has to STOP! Are you the one that will help stop this epidemic by confronting a drunk and telling them you LOVE them but hate their action? . Are you a warrior do you believe in the cause to save a life?
