My daugher Rebecca was killed by a 28 year old male who was drunk and going about 120 miles per hour. He ran on foot and will not be charged with anything for CAUSING HER DEATH only with Failure to Stop and Render Aid. The max he could get is a $5000 fine and five years in jail or prison. Rebecca was in the passangers seat on the way to visit a friend when the vehicle she was in was hit from behind. The impact caused the gas tank to catch on fire. The entire inside of the car burned. The only part of Rebecca that was not burned was a two inch by five inch piece of her lower back. She was a beautiful 25 year old young lady who was looking forward to her first wedding anniversity and celebrating her 26th birthday with her twin sister which are both in June.

honoring your beautiful Rebecca

I understand what you are facing and will face.....the last comment from mom who lost child on New Years Eve wrote everything that I feel as well. It is coming up on eleven years since my son lost his future and we lost our heart. The awful night was also on New Years Eve. We lost our son Dec 31, 2000. My son did not drink but since a terrible person had no regard for human life, my son paid the price. The drunk served 8 years in Prison. He showed no remorse then and his internet interview afterwards proves he has no remorse now. He doesn't take complete responsibility. We have to deal with all of this. My heart goes out to the both of you and your children.

This is so wrong

I am outrage that this person could only get a $5000 fine and maybe some prison time. Where is the justice for our loved ones. Our children, siblings, parents and grandparents deserve so much more. When are people going to understand that drinking and driving does really kill, not only the victims but it also destroys all who is involved. When is our government going to step in and do something about this.

God Bless you and yours.
May God comfort you and keep you close in this time of sadness.
My prayers are with you.

I am so outrage about this, that I can't even put this into words.

Deepest Sympathies from League City TX

Dear Sandra
I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter Rebecca. I lost my son Loren on January 4th 2009 from a drunk driving accident on New Year's Eve. Only another parent who has lost a child can even begin to comprehend the pain, sorrow, loss and rage that you are feeling. The injustice is simply an added slap in the face. Be kind to yourself, the days ahead are black with loss, grief and pain. You may think that you can't live through it, and right now, you probably don't want to. I know the first year of my son's death, each day that I woke up, I couln't believe that God was cruel enough to make me see another day without my child. While you can not comprehend it right now, the darkness doesn't last forever. The pain never goes away, but it does become a little softer over time. We learn to live within our shadow grief. If you ever need to talk, my email is Support of family and friends is of utmost importance now and in the days to come. You shouldn't have any expectations of yourself for the next 6 months except to breathe. Again, my deepest sympathies in the tragic, senseless loss of your daughter Rebecca. You and your family are in my thoughts.
