Samantha Lynn Spade; Gallatin County (Glencoe), KY; November 3, 2007
by Miranda Schweitzer
My name is Miranda Schweitzer. November 3, 2007 I lost my cousin/best-friend Samantha to a drunk driver. My cousin Samantha was an amazing, beautiful, smart, and caring girl. She graduated Gallatin County High School as the Valedictorian a year before her accident. She had a full ride to Northern Kentucky University (NKU)for nursing. Samantha received her full ride due to her dedication of helping hosipitals since her Freshman year of High School. During Samantha's four years of High School she was also the director of the program "Student's Against Drunk Driving". So as you can tell Samantha was a wonderful girl and person who did not deserve what happened to her. I mean don't get me wrong I do not think anyone deserve this to happen to them.
Most drunk drivers who happen to kill people while driving home go to jail with out any questions, but not my cousin's killer Matthew N. Miles. Matthew Miles was only 25 at the time of the accident, and he had already been convicted of 9 DUI''s!!!!!!! WOWOWOW... You'd think if you have been convicted of 9 DUI's, you wouldn't be a loud to drive EVER again RIGHT? Well not in our case.
Reasoning for this is that Matthew Miles mother is the County Clerk for the town my cousin lived in and was killed in. And his aunt is the Principle of the towns High School. (THE IRONY)!
It took our family a little over a year just to get
someone to take our case, because no one wanted to ruin Mstthew's family's reputation and they didn't want to get on their bad side. I guess this was more important to people of the courts then my cousin life.
After a year of begging every county around us to pick up our case we finally got Kenton County, KY to take it. A couple weeks into the case Miles father was convicted of drinking and driving and got a DUI himself. You'd think that he would of learned from his son's mistakes. So this has to tell you a lot about their family.
After two years of going to court and fighting his super powerful family; Miles was finally convicted of Murder.
Miles has now only been in Jail for 3 years and in May of this year he is up for parole. And now we are going to be fighting his family again. Please pray for us!!!!
ANYONE WHO READS THIS THAT BELIVES MATTHEW MILES SHOULD NOT BE ELGIBLE FOR PAROLE; WOULD YOU PLEASE WRITE SOMETHING STATING "HE SHOULD NOT BE ELGIBLE". WE NEED AS MANY LETTERS AS POSSIBLE TO SEND TO THE PAROLE BOARD OF KENTUCKY.
IF YOU DECIDE TO WRITE ONE YOU CAN EITHER SEND IT TO MY E-MAIL WHICH IS firstname.lastname@example.org OR YOU CAN SEND IT TO:
P.O. BOX 2400
FRANKFORT, KY 40601
MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE :
REFERENCE- PROBATION HEARING OF MATTHEW N. MILES
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
