Steven Joseph Barrett

by Amber
(OR now, LA then)

March of 2006 was the day I lost my Dad Steven Joseph Barrett.

He was out of town on business when a drunk driver took away his
life and my future. He was only 37 years
old when the taxi he was riding in was hit by a drunk driver. The
lady ran a red light and my Dad and the taxi driver both were killed.
I will never forget that phone call, for this was the worst day of my
life. If only someone would have taken the drunk drivers keys.

She (the drunk driver went to prison) however
she is out now, living her life and me I grew up with
out a Dad. No more baseball, fishing, camping and
the pain though it has lessened over the years will never go
away.

I'm so very sad about all such deaths...
by: A Barrett

I'm so very sad about all such deaths, and it brings tears to read about the accounts here.
You loved your dad, and sure he is with you
always.

We share the same last name, and I would really wonder if you get this note, to please reply. I will scramble the last part a bit, so spammers will not pick it up as easily.

Terrible
by: Suzanne

I'm so sorry for your loss of your Dad...My husband was killed in April 2006....I understand your pain....I have had a hard time over the past 5 years dealing with my loss, but, this year was different for me....maybe you too....I actually heard my husband say to me in my dreams, I will love you forever and then some, but 5 years is enough....Since I heard these words, I've been able to focus more on my job, and my LIFE, and I've actaully gotten through a day without crying. The one thing that remains the same is, my life has been changed forever because of someone's careless, ignorent dicission to drink and drive. Our lives will NEVER be the same...This is something that never goes away, it just changes year to year...The love we have for our lost loved ones never goes away....My heart has room to love again, but for you, you can't replace a father...I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you can find peace in your heart and love in all your memories of your Dad...

such a terrible loss
by: Monique Williams

Im sorry for your loss, so tragic and avoidable. I too received the horrible news that my brother 34 years old three kids was killed by a drunk driver just 2 years ago, It is very upsetting and to this day, I can't believe he's gone and in such a disgusting way. I listed my brothers story also on this page. Luckily the drunk driver died too, or else she probably wouldn't face much jail time either, and she was a second time offender. there is a void in my life which can't ever be filled, as you know, take care of yourself
